Persian Gates was well backed ahead of his debut and should go well but there are some interesting newcomers in opposition and we'll side with GIBRALTAR STAR ahead of Alexander Beetle. Jonjo O'Neill sent out the winner of this race two years ago and there's plenty to like about Gibraltar Star on paper as he's a full brother to a winner on the Flat and over hurdles whilst the yard continues to enjoy a decent spell. Persian Gates faces a contrasting test to the one that faced him at Towcester and he could be done for speed on this tight track. Alexander Beetle is related to a number of winners under both codes and it would be no surprise to see him feature prominently with the trainer having a good record in bumpers at the track. Squinch and Zi Missile are two others to bear in mind but the form of the former's yard is still a cause for concern whilst the latter's trainer doesn't send out a huge number of winners in this sphere. As ever, the market will be useful but Gibraltar Star could be the one to shine.
