Barthelemy is bound to attract plenty of market support despite a slightly disappointing rules debut last time but we prefer the chances of newcomer ROYALES CHARTER with Verde Goodwood also in contention. Related to an animal who only just missed out on a debut score in this type of race the pick turns out for a yard that didn't have a single bumper runner all of last year. That looks a bit of a clue in itself and any market attention would be interesting. Barthelemy fell on his first two starts in Irish points before getting turned over as favourite on his rules bow. It was still a solid enough run and the McCoy/Henderson combination is always respected. Verde Goodwood is another newcomer in the field and she does have two debut winners in her family tree. She should make up to a useful enough type and she is worth a second glance here. Definate Dawn is also well bred and has shown some of that when winning between the flags but with the trainer taking a rare foray into this sphere we prefer Royales Charter.
