In depth

Verdict

A wide-open handicap hurdle which represents a nightmare task for punters. The ex-Irish hurdler Killalongford is the likely favourite and is improving with every run. There is clearly more to come but this quicker surface may not be ideal. East Hill has to be considered as this lightly-raced type has a couple of very useful pieces of form to his name and will relish a return to good ground after racing on softer surfaces of late. Moon Spinner was a good second at Taunton last time but is better at shorter and remains a very difficult mare to win with. Mick Fitzgerald takes the ride on Lizzys First who had no chance behind Linus last time out and is weighted to go well here. Wings Of Hope loves this faster surface and is bidding for a hat-trick of wins over this course and distance. He is clearly well suited by the conditions and despite a break of 143 days can make a bold bid. However the tentative vote goes to Armageddon who remains lightly-raced. He was a good second at Doncaster two runs ago and looked to have been given a decent chance in handicaps. He disappointed over three miles at Exeter last time out, however that was too far and this drop back in trip should see him go well off a decent mark.
