In depth

Verdict

Martin Pipe has so far failed to work the oracle with Nick The Silver but the gelding is given a final chance today at the main expense of Graffiti Tongue and Dere Lyn. The selection showed promise on his first start for Pipe and again at Sandown next time before unseating Jamie Moore at the last. The son of Nicolotte showed signs of temperament back at the Esher venue last time when running out and Timmy Murphy will be ready for any repeat today. Given his earlier form Nick The Silver looks worth chancing. Former stablemate Graffiti Tongue has to race off a 9lb higher mark than when scoring at Huntingdon last time and the Evan Williams-trained gelding has to be respected with Tony McCoy again taking the ride. Wild Chimes looks a chaser in the making but Paul Nicholls has been quick to put him back over hurdles after one disappointing effort but he is held by Turaath on running at Taunton and may be best watched at present. Kim Bailey's Putup Or Shutup has a long absence to overcome and of more interest may be Dere Lyn, who is in good form but has yet to prove his effectiveness at today's trip. Similar comments may be leveled at Nick The Silver but Martin Pipe's judgement is never usually wrong and he is given a final chance to show his worth.
