An ordinary maiden can go to Regal Dream, who is selected in preference to the frustrating Taipan Tommy and Sound That Alarm, who make the most appeal out of the remainder of those with experience. Support for either of the newcomers (Sun Bian and New Dancer) will be interesting to note, as this is not a strong contest by any means. Even so, there are a few negative points to consider, as New Dancer was withdrawn at the start here yesterday and was hardly an eye-catcher in the betting at the time. There has to be the suspicion that he will need this and he may be best left alone for the time being. Meanwhile, Sun Bian is likely to need further than this and, as his stable's runners have tended to need their first outing, he too is probably best watched. Similar comments apply to Sound That Alarm, who has a couple of previous runs under his belt and could be a different proposition now that he has another year of strengthening up behind him. He is one to carefully monitor in the betting. However, unlike the selection, he lacks experience of this surface and, as he is bred to get a lot further, he might be one to just keep tabs on until he goes into handicaps later. Therefore, we switch to Regal Dream, who as a half-brother to useful sprinter Red Millennium, makes more appeal over the minimum trip. John Hills does not have many runners on the all weather surfaces at this time of the year, so any support for his charge will be a big clue to his chances of collecting today.
