        Verdict

        CAPTAIN WALCOT has run some fine races in defeat of late and is taken to get his head in front this time around at the expense of Cut And Thrust and Tricky Trev. The selection is relatively unexposed with only seven runs under his belt. In that time he has taken his time to hit form, but he now looks handicapped to win a race of this nature and the fact that blinkers have brought around some further improvement he ought to go close. Cut And Trust improved with the application of cheek pieces last time out when finishing fifth of thirteen at Southwell. This looks like one of his easiest opportunities to date so he warrants plenty of respect. Tricky Trev is another to note after showing better form when tried in blinkers for the first time. His trainer likes a tilt in the ring where possible so any market moves should be monitored. However for the winner we return to Captain Walcot.
