      Verdict

      A dire contest in which the tentative vote goes to Christmas Truce. The selection idled when in front over course and distance ten days ago and was duly caught in the shadow of the post. If ridden with a bit more restraint, and produced later on, he could go one better today. Competitor has a good record in selling races so must rate a threat, especially as he has won over the course and distance before. Prince Vettori has put in two poor efforts this year but would be a threat if reproducing old form, whilst Ciccone is consistent so should play a hand. However this is a good opportunity for Christmas Truce to get his head in front and so he gets the vote.
