The market will prove key in assessing this contest but EVERAARD appeals as a sort who could leave his juvenile form behind. Dark Ranger and Wunder Strike are two of the likelier dangers. David Elsworth's American bred gelding may be suited by the switch to racing on a synthetic surface and he showed enough in three starts at two to be worth bearing in mind with Munro in the saddle. Wunder Strike made a winning handicap bow at Kempton and began his career on such a lowly perch that an 8lb rise may not be enough to scupper his chances. Dark Ranger is a little more exposed than that pair but he posted a career best on his first run of the year and could have more to offer. Andy Haynes has his team in good nick so Crystallize is another for whom support would be worth noting as it would for Alternative Choice. The market may help to clear the muddy waters but we'll be sitting on top of the world if Everaard prevails.
