Mr Bountiful, a winner over course and distance in a handicap off a mark of 55 two starts ago, lost no caste in defeat off his new mark in a similar contest last week and is taken to regain the winning thread at the main expense of Chateau Nicol and Jagged. The last mentioned remains a maiden but has shown signs that his turn could be near recently and has to be respected although a bigger threat should be Chateau Nicol, who belied odds of 40/1 to win a handicap over course and distance last week. Bulawayo is a consistent performer but has done all of his racing on the all-weather on the Fibresand and is not certain to appreciate this surface. Cold Climate has claims on the pick of his turf form but has yet to convince on sand. A similar comment applies to Gay Kelleway's Pirouettes but she comes from a yard that has a good record with their runners here and is at least unexposed but it is Mr Bountiful who gets the vote.
