A very tricky opener to the card at Haydock Park where there are doubts about the majority of the field. Therefore, Minivet is a far from confident choice to get the better of Supreme Fortune, Polish Paddy and The Last Mohican. The Tim Easterby-trained selection has a useful turn of foot on his day and should encounter his favoured ground this afternoon fences. However, he is not really noted for his consistency and has become something of a bookmakers darling when falling short when gambled on in better company than this in the past. Therefore a watchful eye should be kept on the betting before getting heavily involved with Easterby's charge. That said, this is a race lacking in quality and he would not really have to pull out all the stops if he ran to his best. Of the rest, Supreme Fortune found the trip on the sharp side for him when he disappointed at Kelso when he was last seen out and has a little to prove now he reverts to hurdles. The absence since May also has to be a concern, as his record when fresh is not the best on offer, so he is passed over for now. The Last Mohican and Polish Paddy are others with a little to find on form and are probably best watched; even though they have minor claims at the weights. Therefore Sadlers Secret and Dan De Man are given the nod to scrap it out for the places behind Minivet, whose connections will be left more than exasperated if he fails to score at this level.
