Carlton Scroop is the pick ahead of It's Basil, Perfect Order, Sky At Night and Dance A Daydream to name but a few. Not too many catch the eye here, but Carlton Scroop at least has winning form to his name, having landed a Banded race at Kempton in April. He has only had one subsequent run, at Southwell later that month when third to Bollin Derek, so although Jonathan Jay's charge will be fitter for the run, he perhaps has more to offer than most here. It's Basil responded to blinkers when a much improved second here recently, and will be expected to give another good account, while Perfect Order is dropping to a more favourable mark but may be seen to better effect on a Fibresand surface on evidence so far. Sky At Night has yet to find his optimum trip and is tried over 10 furlongs for the first time. This could be the making of him, while Dance A Daydream has shown nothing in four career outings, but given that she is owned by the Cheveley Park Stud, they will be desperate to get a win into her for paddock purposes, so she has to be followed. In truth, this is a poor contest, with Carlton Scroop selected.
