    Verdict

    The newcomer Severiano has already been gelded and will probably need further than this on pedigree. But BRIGHT STRIKE sets a decent standard on his three runs on Turf last year, which included a second at Newbury in September when sent off a well-backed favourite. He should open his account today. Half Turn was a well-beaten last of three on his debut over a mile here 12 days ago and neither he nor One Dark Night should be good enough in this.
