Verdict

ATLANTIC TIGER is selected to get the better of Christmas Coming and Pascalina in the opener. The Mark Johnston-trained selection has twice been beaten here over 10f and now steps up to 1m 4f, which may well suit given his pedigree. Both of those defeats have nonetheless shown plenty of promise and with more time to get into this he will be very tough to beat. Christmas Coming has had five attempts in maidens, coming closest to success when beaten just three-parts-of-a-length last time, also here over 10f. He is taking time to progress, and his pedigree suggests that this trip may invoke stamina issues, so we will oppose. John Akehurst's Pascalina improved from first run to second, but a half-mile increase in trip here is also not certain to suit her and she looks best watched for the time being, with handicapping looking perhaps a more fruitful future option. Tallulah Mai looks likely to emerge the best of the other pair, with some stamina in the bloodlines, but Atlantic Tiger gets the vote.
