raced wide, held up, never dangerous
led, ridden and headed over 2f out, weakening when hampered entering final furlong
in touch, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace
slowly into stride, soon behind, never nearer
slowly into stride, always in rear
in touch, ridden over 2f out, edged left entering final furlong, kept on same pace
tracked leader, led over 2f out, ridden and ran on
broke well, soon restrained in rear, smooth headway approaching 2f out, not clear run approaching final furlong, switched right, stayed on inside final furlong
held up, headway on inside 2f out, not much room over 1f out, switched right, kept on inside final furlong
steadied start, held up well in rear, headway over 1f out, took 2nd inside final furlong, too much to do
A wide open handicap can go to Deeper In Debt, with Musical Gift, Sir Laughalot and Trousers all expected to make their presence felt in this class E affair. Deeper In Debt has been in good form since coming back from a break and it will not be too long before he gets back to winning ways judged on his two efforts so far this year. Only beaten by the in-form Vortex first time back, John Akehurst's charge was then the subject of a gamble over the course and distance next time, but ran out of steam after trying to make all. Still not badly treated, he should go close here. Musical Gift won a moderate maiden at Wolverhampton in January but has been beaten twice since then. If there is any money for him in the ring then he would be interesting, but it might be prudent to wait until he goes over timber. Sir Laughalot has been consistent without winning but his young trainer is very much on the rise and she will place him to good effect, while Trousers has an absence to overcome but is a course and distance winner and has the assistance of Darryll Holland. A competitive affair can go the way of Deeper In Debt.
