Oberlin can land the opener at the expense of Hamalka and Wherry. Mark Johnston's colt has had three attempts to break his duck and came closest on debut on his sole start on polytrack. He failed to build on that promise on grass but he's been given plenty of time and should be able to deliver this afternoon. Hamalka showed a fair level of form in four turf starts but is already beginning to look exposed and will probably need to improve if she's to open her account this afternoon. Improvement can be expected from Wherry who lacked the pace to get competitive on her debut over six furlongs but should be more at home over this trip and she'll know more about the game now. Better can also be expected from Precision Break and Ten Hour Lunch but Oberlin appeals as the likeliest winner.
