Verdict

Bill O'Gorman doesn't have many runners nowadays, but the one's he does have are always worth a second look. Hidden Surprise lacks the experience of most of his rivals, but unlike those he is open to improvement. He wouldn't appear that well handicapped, but this step up in trip should suit and he is the tentative choice in an open contest. Bought to go jumping, Jewel Of India didn't set the world alight in that sphere when making his debut at Bangor and it was interesting that connections quickly returned to flat racing. They were soon rewarded when he proved too strong for the reliable yardstick Lygeton Lad, over arguably a trip short of his best. He showed plenty of improvement for the step up to this trip on his latest effort, off the same mark as today, and is sure to be competitive. Must Be Magic has been in good form this year, but he may find this too competitive for him, while Blackmail responded to the first time blinkers here last week and may confirm the form with Lady Pahia, even on 6lbs worse terms.
