Guiseppe Verdi is the pick over Hurricane Thomas and Hatton Flight, with Geordie's Pool one to watch on his debut. Having had two runs on soft ground at Newmarket and Newbury so far, Guiseppe Verdi now tries the Polytrack, and on breeding, he should take to it like a duck to water. John Gosden will no doubt be disappointed if his colt does not improve enough to take a hand in the finish, given that this contest looks distinctly average. Hurricane Thomas shaped quite well when third to the odds-on Eastern Anthem at Nottingham just five days ago, and if suitably recovered, can be in the shake-up as well. Hatton Flight was actually not beaten that far when 10th of 14 on his Goodwood bow, so has to merit a mention, while newcomer Geordie's Pool is quite well-bred, with the dam being related to the smart Foreign Affairs. The market may tell us a great deal here, and it will hopefully point the way of Guiseppe Verdi.
