Four runners but four chances and QUICK SINGLE is our tentative vote with Red Cell and Just The Lady likely to provide the most obvious opposition. Quick Single didn't run too badly on a first introduction into the grade and while we can't be sure that there is improvement likely today, the remainder look fairly exposed. Red Cell had ran creditably during the summer but had struggled at the back end of the year. It is to be hoped that the break has reawakened his enthusiasm for the task. Just The Lady won a controversial event last Sunday so we learnt very little from that success. Lois Darlin would be much better off if this event were a handicap so we are happy to swerve on this occasion. Quick Single is the pick in a tight race that isn't any easier for lack of numbers.
Red Cell (IRE) 9-1 (8-13) Jumped right at start, never a factor, last of 10, 12l behind Imaginary Diva (9-3) at Southwell 5f hcp 0-65 (6) fbs in Dec.
Just The Lady 13-8 (8-7) Made all, clear halfway, hard driven over 1f out, stayed on well, won at Kempton 5f 3yo clm (6) pol beating Valdemar (8-9) by 2l, 5 ran.
Quick Single (USA) 9-1 (8-12) Pressed leader, ridden and every chance entering final furlong, kept on well for 3rd, 3rd of 9, 1l behind Raimond Ridge (8-12) at Lingfield 6f 3yo sll (6) pol.
Lois Darlin (IRE) 12-1 (8-11) Led for 1f, chased leaders, ridden 3f out, weakened inside final furlong, 7th of 11, 5l behind Alexander Family (9-4) at W'hampton 7f 3yo hcp (6) pol.
