      Verdict

      In what might turn out to be a strong maiden, DEAUVILLE POST sets the standard and should score; we side with the Hannon runner in preference to Gomrath and Ancient Times. With this step up in trip likely to suit, our selection may be able to improve upon the already strong form he has shown and land the spoils. He has it to prove in regards the surface but this is his easiest opportunity to date so he gets the vote. Gomrath showed some ability at Goodwood and should improve for the run with the race having worked out well; this extra yardage is in his favour. Ancient Times is at least fit with both career starts having come this year. It was disappointing that he couldn't step forward last time but with the yard amongst the winners he can bounce back to run a big race. Beat Route is the best of the remaining pair but will have to improve to get anywhere near beating Deauville Post.
