In depth

Verdict

It seems a long time since JAGGER was winning in Listed class races but his form last season showed he still retains the ability to figure at this level and he may have too many guns for Carte Diamond and Sevenna. There may also be a bit in the locker from Inchnadamph and he is one to take note of in the betting. Henry Cecil silenced his critics with a runaway winner at Newbury yesterday, so any support for Sevenna should also be noted with interest. Cecil's filly has very few miles on the clock and seems to be getting her act together well at present. The step up in trip is an unknown factor at this stage, though. So a bit if faith is also required to give her the big build today. Carte Diamond has shrugged off the effects of two career threatening injuries and still shows plenty of enthusiasm in his races. Having won over two miles earlier in his career, he should have the trip covered. But his long losing sequence is inescapable and he also requires the gods of fortune to be smiling on him today. Lost Soldier Three is another familiar character that has held his own in elite company during his time. However, he looks to be in the wilderness at present and 'Sprint King' Dandy Nicholls will have to work wonders to get this fellow to win over two miles. Therefore, with all things considered, Jagger gets the nomination today. Then gelding looks to be ready for another crack at two miles and, as there is unlikely to be a rocking pace, he may just have the action unfold to suit him today.
