Verdict

John Gosden's TROOPINGTHECOLOUR has hit the crossbar on all three starts to date but with that experience behind him can go one better today ahead of Godolphin's Royaaty and fellow newcomer New Couture. The selection has arguably been unfortunate not to have already opened his account but the form showed when second to Black Eagle last time suggests today may well be the day the colt sticks his head in front at the fourth time of asking. Royaaty hails from the same stable as Black Eagle and so connections should know where they stand with the Gosden horse and a treble on Saturday's card here showed that they remain in sparkling form, so their well-bred son of Singspiel rates the main danger to our selection although the market will doubtless help tell us more. New Couture makes his belated debut for Peter Chapple-Hyam and this daughter of Montjeu should find the 1m2f trip no problem here but we feel the horse will have to be above average to take home first prize today. The rest of the runners look to have plenty to do with Spinning Well perhaps next best having joined Ralph Beckett from Dermot Weld whilst Northern Genes should be all the wiser for his debut but Troopingthecolour should be more than capable of obliging here.
