In depth

Verdict

Dusty Dazzler looks set to shine here with Petardia Magic and Law Breaker rated as his biggest dangers. The selection finished a length-and-a-quarter behind Law Breaker when the pair met over course and distance on December 20. However, he is now 14lbs better off, a factor that gives him a clear chance of gaining revenge in this quite-valuable event. The Andrew Balding-trained Golden Chalice was an expensive failure when beaten in a valuable race at Wolverhampton eight days ago and has yet to conclusively prove he acts on the all-weather, even though his chances might be aided by the fact that he is equipped with a first-time visor. Hurricane Coast has progressed from a selling win to notch a straight hat-trick of victories but this will be a good bit tougher for him. The beautifully-bred Kingham has shown little in four starts to date but now races at six furlongs for the first time. On official ratings, Chateau Nicol has to improve again to score here although the drop to six furlongs here last time clearly suited him and he's capable of improving again. Queens Rhapsody ran well in a Conditions Event last March but there is a feeling that he's better at seven furlongs than six. Petardias Magic flopped in the Italian mud in a Listed event in December but, before that had scored in a course and distance Conditions event. He warrants plenty of respect and is the one that the selection has to fear the most. However, it is Dusty Dazzler who gets the vote on this occasion.
