        Verdict

        Songkran won over 7f at Kempton on his debut under a canny ride from David Probert. But he beat the fast-finishing ASSIMILATION by only a short-head and the latter has obvious claims of reversing that form on today’s more favourable terms. Woods disappointed when sent off favourite at Kempton last time having shown promise over track and trip earlier but Bay Of Naples made a decent start at Newcastle last month and may improve past the more-exposed Shanghai Grace. Theban Air is related to a host of winners though this doesn’t look the easiest of debuts.
