Pab Special can defy topweight at the expense of Discotheque, Street Life and Watchmaker. Karl Burke turns Pab Special out just four days after his encouraging return to action at Wolverhampton where he was beaten just half-a-length despite tending to carry his head high. He is relatively unexposed on the all-weather, and this extra furlong can only help increase the four-year-old's claims in an open affair. Discotheque ran a similar sort of race to the selection on the same day, but now steps up slightly in class. Nevertheless, Paul Howling's mare is in good heart at present and can figure in the finish as well. Street Life seems versatile as regards his best trip and will not mind this drop back to 10-furlongs, while Watchmaker does not look too badly treated for his handicap debut. The bottom pair, Blackmail and Voice Mail, are much more exposed, but both have been threatening to pay a visit to the winner's enclosure of late and are yet two more to conjure with. All in all, the outcome may revolve around who gets the best run in the straight, and we shall take Pab Special to kick on round the home turn and see them all off.
