Chaninbar has not been seen on the flat since racing in France in September 2005 but has been running well over hurdles of late, including when successful at Taunton last month, so he has to be respected back on the level today but a better bet may be PYRUS TIME, who is preferred to Formidable Guest. Jeff Pearce's mare bounced back to form when a close third over course and distance earlier this month and she has solid claims off just a 2lb higher mark today. David Evans has his string in fine form so his runner, Hector Spectre, has to be considered but he may just be a shade high in the weights. Vinces ran better over course and distance last time and has solid claims having been dropped 2lbs since then. He makes more appeal than Marmooq, who has struggled against the handicapper since winning here in November. Stan Moore's Pyrus Time took a long time to open his account but finally did so when landing a maiden here last month in good fashion and, having not been raised in the handicap for that success, he looks worth backing to follow up that victory.
