In depth

Verdict

A wide open handicap here which can go to Up Tempo, a rare runner at Lingfield for Tim Easterby. The four-year-old has been running well without winning on the turf this year, but put in a good debut on the all weather at Wolverhampton last month, beaten just half a length by Sundried Tomato over six furlongs. Back over seven furlongs here - arguably his best trip - Up Tempo can win here. Coffee Time has been running well over shorter trips most of the year, but she has been stepped up to good effect here at Lingfield on her last two starts. However, a 4lb rise for a length defeat by Effervesce last time should mean that she finds it hard to win again here. Aswan could be the one to chase home the selection. Arguably running over shorter than ideal here, he has nevertheless shown some recent form over the trip and can again go very close off his current mark. Acorazado has been given a squeak after a 2lb drop in the weights for a disappointing defeat when favourite last time out at Wolverhampton. This is the first time he will have encountered the equitrack, but if he handles the surface then expect an improved effort here. Lygeton Lad has definite claims after wins here over course and distance and a mile in recent times. Still on the same mark as when finishing a head second to Deeper In Debt here over the longer trip last time, Gay Kelleway's gelding has every chance here and should be thereabouts. Golden Brief put up a career best effort to land a course and distance success in handicap company last time and has gone up 4lbs for that win, so it will be tough here, but he should again give his running. Meanwhile Bella Chica has clearly got the ability to win this sort of contest, but looks to be fully exposed at the moment, while Fruit Of Glory came back to form last time out and with some confidence gained from that, she should be in the shake up again this time.
