Previous attempts at this trip have proved fruitless for Troubadour and until there is evidence that he stays this far then we will oppose and the choice here is Samarinda, while Speedy Sam can also go close. Samarinda has c&d winning form when taking a maiden, though connections clearly felt he had plenty of speed because all but three of his subsequent starts have been over a mile, a trip he has won at twice. He is still on a fair enough mark and went well from it last time, and he is also still unexposed as far as this trip is concerned so we'll side with him. Speedy Sam is sent south by Kevin Ryan and he is just 2lb above his last winning mark now after a string of defeats. Even so, he retains enough ability to go close over this, his optimum trip. Will He Wish was not beaten far behind Bazroy earlier in the week at Kempton and that runner has come out and won again since. This is his first try over 10 furlongs and he has to prove he can last home. Dream Lodge's pedigree suggests that he can probably get home here and if he does then he is entitled to be thereabouts from this mark. Lisathedaddy is dropping in the weights and should be capable of winnin again soon, but maybe not today, and preference is for Samarinda.
