        Verdict

        The shortlist here consists of Maria Vetsera, Saraba, Miss Providence, Papality, Rock Chick and This Is My Song, with the vote going to the first-named. Maria Vetsera overcame an absence to chase home Baseerah at Thirsk last time, and that type of run makes her a major player today. The soft going is also in her favour. Saraba gets placed on plenty of occasions, but her form equates to around the 70 mark, which does not seem quite good enough to land this. However, the upside is that she does act on soft. Miss Providence showed plenty of promise on her debut, and the second from that race, Azizam, will by now have run on Saturday. Finally, Papality's maiden form is on a par with the best of these, so she is afforded plenty of respect, while Rock Chick has only half-a-length to find with Papality based on good to firm Newbury 10-furlong form, with This Is My Song looking best of the rest. Overall, though, we will just side with Maria Vetsera.
