Redolent is rated at least 9lb clear than everything else here and gets the vote ahead of Sharp Nephew, Orientalist Art and Traphalgar. The selection comes from the in-form yard of Richard Hannon and was last seen finishing a creditable third in a Saint-Cloud Group 1 in November. There is nothing lining up here in that sort of class and he is again racing over his optimum, so provided he handles the surface he can score. Sharp Nephew is officially rated next best and won the Listed Usk Valley Stud Stakes over 7f at Newbury last season before being bogged down in the mud in the Royal Lodge. He is better than that and looks most likely to be the main threat here. Orientalist Art impressed in winning a 7f maiden here in February but this is a fair step up in class and we will find out plenty about his abilities today. Traphalgar looks best of the others. Paul Cole's runners are in fine form and this colt finished last year with a hat-trick over either 7f or a mile. He looks like an improver, and he will need to do so to trouble our selection Redolent.
