A step up in trip may see an improved performance from Walter however KILDONNAN ran well in defeat last time out and can get off the mark over fences today. The selection has no problem with soft ground as he showed when a dual winner at Warwick back in 2006. It may be that he is far better there as his recent second over fences came at that track; however he has not been here before and may fall in love with leafy Lingfield as well. Gentle Ranger represents a trainer starting to hit some good form in time for Cheltenham. His gelding comes here on the back of two poor chase starts however he is bred for this fame and it would be a surprise were we not to see an improved performance. Pavarottis Brother looked to be carrying a bit of condition last time when pulled up at Towcester over hurdles, whilst Russian Around has not progressed over fences as may once have been hoped. Not a strong beginners' chase and we will stick with Kildonnan.
