Charlie Kennet gets a narrow vote over Armatore, Bobby Charles, Gravardlax and Le Soleil. Charlie Kennet has been plying his trade over hurdles but showed big improvement when tried on the Polytrack on his last two starts, putting in a particularly game effort last time when third to Authority. Heidi Sweeting's seven-year-old is as good a choice as any in a weak event. Ernst Oertel is quickly establishing his reputation as an up-and-coming trainer and saddles Armatore who showed his best form when second at Wolverhampton nine days ago. He may be taken off his feet on the faster Polytrack though and is passed over. Bobby Charles has had just three outings to date and on the latest of them here six days ago, was noted staying on really well to finish third behind Silver Palace. With Paul Hanagan on board again he can go close. Gravardlax was in the main disappointing on Turf but has run two good races on the Polytrack, being placed on both occasions in November. However, he failed to shine when put into claiming company at Southwell and cannot be backed with confidence. Any money at all for the ex-German Le Soleil would be interesting, given that his trainer is one to fear in the ring. Principessa has had far too many opportunities and is hard to fancy as well, and for the winner we return to Charlie Kennet.
