In depth

Verdict

Solid Rock can defy topweight at the expense of Beauchamp Viceroy and Lordswood. Solid Rock has a 7lb penalty to overcome for his latest success here six-days ago when he was all out to hold on from Cry Presto who had been slowly away. However, the dramatic step up in trip to a mile was not an inconvenience, and even if he had been caught on the line, would still have been fancied here on the strength of that effort. Beauchamp Viceroy was found wanting in a decent nursery at Newbury in September and the jury is out as to whether he will stay the trip today. He may struggle to last home if they go any sort of pace and is worth taking on. Lordswood won a claimer here three weeks ago under today's pilot, and his 7lb claim will come in handy as Andrew Balding's charge makes his nursery bow. In receipt of weight from all, he looks a threat, but we shall stay loyal to Solid Rock.
