In depth

Verdict

Border Music found the drop to five furlongs too sharp last time out and now back over his optimum trip he gets the confident vote to get his head back in front, at the main expense of Ajigolo, although all four runners have solid claims. The selection is more than capable of giving away weight to the whole field and has won in small fields before. He is still progressing well and will surely be staying on too strongly for these today. Ajigolo won well last time out at Wolverhampton but is yet to experience a win at the course so whilst obviously a sprinter with plenty of potential, we will oppose Mick Channon's four-year-old today. Maltese Falcon has pace to burn but ultimately is better over the minimum trip so for that reason is opposed, as is Ripples Maid who should come on for his recent reappearance (well-beaten behind Ajigolo) and acquitted himself with great credit last summer. However the feeling is that he may just come on again for this run so is passed over, and we will return to multiple course winner Border Artist to land the spoils.
