SEVENNA STAR won Sandown’s Classic Trial back in 2018 but has never fulfilled his potential on the Flat or over hurdles. He’s raced in much better company the last twice and has been put in to claim on a very lowly price. The latter remark also applies to the veteran chaser Spare Brakes, who ran a cracking race over the bigger obstacles at Fairyhouse. Any further rain would aid his cause and he should be in contention while Free Nelson ran very well when runner-up at Clonmel and pulled too hard next time at Down Royal. Prospectus is the top-rated hurdler here but it’s a long time since he showed any form.
