      Verdict

Quantum Leap had several of today's rivals behind when second of 30 in a highly competitive one-mile Newmarket handicap earlier in the month and a reproduction will make the five-year-old difficult to beat. The son of Efisio has yet to win on ground this testing but appeared to handle the softening conditions well at Headquarters and is the TEAMtalk pick to overcome a subsequent 2lb rise in this weaker grade. There are plenty of dangers including Great News who is well treated on the pick of his form and won't be inconvenienced by returning to this trip having been caught close home over 10f last time. Wiggy Smith will find this tougher after landing a Windsor maiden last time but has ground conditions in his favour and is capable of further progress. Fortune Point has been well placed to pick up handicaps at Chepstow and Kempton and has place claims despite now appearing to be in the handicapper's grip while Jewel Of India will appreciate a test of stamina at this trip so these conditions could prove to be to his advantage.
