Opera Writer probably has the best form of those to have raced previously and Tim Easterby's gelding has to be respected but he is unproven on ground this testing and a chance is taken on the newcomer Indian Sabre, who is preferred to another debutant Prince of Delphi. The last mentioned is a brother to Acclamation and half-brother to many of other winners and would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to take a hand here. Ocean Sunrise disappointed under similarly testing ground when last seen and is hard to recommend on that evidence, while Ravish may do better as a three-year-old than he did last term but needs to improve on all known form. Glenargo has yet to race on ground this soft and there is little in his pedigree to suggest that it will suit so a chance is taken with Indian Sabre. Jeremy Noseda's colt is a well-related son of Indian Ridge who should go on the ground and he would not need to be too special to win this first time out.
