      Verdict

      VENTURA KNIGHT continued his good progress when making every yard at Carlisle on his handicap debut and Mark Johnston’s colt gets the vote to defy a penalty. Shaheen has won a novice event at Redcar and Give Em A Clump landed a lowly seller at Thirsk last time while Magnus steps up in trip after a good effort at Haydock on his handicap bow. Ventura Dragon was well beaten in the Woodcote at Epsom but will find this easier while Ferik just missed out in a novices’ contest over 7f at Chepstow.
