In depth

Verdict

This looks tricky with four older horses, all of whom still have the occasional day in the sun in lowly grade, in opposition. Prime Exhibit, Kimbali and Justonefortheroad remain contenders in selling and claiming company but it could be that Tom Dascombe will eke further improvement out of the previously inconsistent and erratic LICENCE TO TILL, having dropped the son of War Chant to a mile last time for the first time since 2010. He was never in danger that day under a cool front-running ride from Jenny Powell and the combination can strike again in the hope the gelding has turned over a rather belated new leaf. Of the three-year-olds, Slinky McVelvet has only scored on artificial surfaces and despite hailing from a top yard, Lindart has yet to beat a rival in two starts, although this does represent a dramatic drop in grade for the Hannon gelding.
