Another very poor contest and if Regal River can keep his jumping together he should take first prize, York Rite and Grandee Line look the pick of his rivals. John Upson's eight-year-old would have got a lot closer in Just Anvil's race but for a couple of bad blunders. In the end he was beaten a long way as he tired on the long run in, brought about by the omitted fence at the top of the hill. He is now down to a very lenient mark and over this shorter trip can go close at a decent price. York Rite unseated his rider last time, but had previously finished an excellent second to Martin Pipe's Figaro Du Rocher. If repeating that effort he will be a danger to all.Grandee Line has to give weight away all round, but has shown plenty of ability in the past and should be capable of vying for some place money. So this finale will not take much winning and Regal River looks the pick of a bad bunch
