In depth

Verdict

This is a very modest event and could fall to Risington, with Sargasso Sea and Bernini put forward as the main rivals. The selection is certainly no world beater but he did at least win a point back in 2003. He travelled well for a long way last before fading badly in the race won by Captain Correlli. That was over a lot longer trip and he may be better suited by today's distance. Bernini pulled up at Ludlow last time but had previously chased home Semi Precious at Hereford, form that puts him right in the picture here. Sargasso Sea came a cropper last time but had shown a modicum of ability beforehand and if his jumping has been sorted out he could go well at a decent price. Silvergino ran well behind The Leader last time and may prove best of the rest, but for the sporting selection it has to be Risington
