Topweight Captain's Log ran too badly to be true at Epsom behind Adjawar last time, when unable to challenge at any stage, and is probably better judged on earlier form. That said, the seven-year-old has risen in the handicap and may have too much to do now. Both Thesis and Star Seventeen have slipped to fair marks but are out of form, while Rutland Chantry, who is running well, may be better over further. Sylva Storm has claims on a last time out win in a classified stakes race at Yarmouth but a 4lb rise for that looks harsh so the selection has to be Paul Cole's Smoothie. On a hat-trick following wins at Windsor and Newbury, the gelding has gone up another 6lbs for his most recent success but still looks to be well treated and can win again.
