It may seem remarkable, but Torquemada has won three of the last four renewals of this race; all for different yards. And he returns to Leicester on attractive mark in his bid to expand on the record. Dakota Rain is another course winner that makes the shortlist, while Castano and Granary are others who can play strong supporting roles. Granary is consistent and versatile regarding the ground. Still, she is also very hard to win with and needs everything to fall into place for her. Castano is potentially well treated just now and arrives here in good heart. The ground ought not to be a problem for him and he makes appeal to at least make the frame. Dakota Rain has also dropped to an attractive mark and would be very dangerous if he is allowed a soft lead. His style of running will always leave him vulnerable in the closing stages though - which exactly where TORQUEMADA has pounced for his previous victories at Leicester. Now with Michael Attwater, the seven-year-old reserves his best for this time of year and, even though he finds it difficult to get his head in front elsewhere, every stone appears to have been overturned in his attempt to make this another successful raid today.
