Otyrar was too keen over a longer trip last month at Newbury and better is expected here. Realist is still progressing as is Salisbury winner No Recollection. The step up in trip is expected to suit handicap debutant Thunder Sun but Camelot Tales never threatened at Newcastle after winning a novice event at Redcar. Only a short-head separated SUREFIRE and Oz Legend at Windsor in April and they meet on the same terms. But Ralph Beckett’s charge has the most scope for improvement and the form of that race was franked when winner Siskany bolted up in a handicap at Newmarket last month.
No Recollection 5-4fav (9-7) Raced keenly, led over 1f, settled 3rd over 7f out, headway on inside over 2f out, ridden to lead over 1f out, all out, won at Salisbury 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in May beating Farhan (9-3) by ns, 6 ran.
Camelot Tales (FR) 8-1 (9-9) Restrained towards rear, headway on outside over 3f out, ridden over 2f out, one pace from over 1f out, 7th of 11, 12 1/4l behind John Leeper (9-2) at Newcastle 1m 2f stks (5) pol in Apr.
Thunder Sun (FR) 9-4 (9-8) Tracked leaders on inside, switched left inside final 3f, unable to quicken and edging left when carried left final furlong, plugged on in 3rd, 3rd of 11, 2 3/4l behind Sevenal (9-1) at Windsor 1m stks (5) gd in May.
Otyrar 17-2 (9-6) Prominent, ridden 3f out, weakened, 7th of 10, 17 3/4l behind Surrey Gold (8-11) at Newbury 1m 3f hcp (4) gs in May.
Surefire 6-1 (9-9) Tracked leaders, pushed along out wide 3f out, went 2nd entering final furlong, stayed on same pace inside final furlong, never going pace to challenge, 2nd of 9, 1 1/4l behind Siskany (9-9) at Windsor 1m 2f stks (5) gf in Apr.
Oz Legend (IRE) 7-1 (8-2) Prominent, hard ridden over 2f out, lacked pace of front pair but remained prominent over 1f out, lost 3rd towards post, 4th of 10, 8 1/2l behind Bay Bridge (8-10) at Newbury 1m 2f hcp (2) gs in May.
Realist 4-1 (9-2) Held up towards rear, shaken up and headway 2f out, made strong challenge and led narrowly after 1f out, kept on but headed closing stages, held post, 2nd of 8, 1/2l behind Greystoke (9-2) at Redcar 1m 2f hcp (4) gf in Apr.
