None of the older brigade look anything special and it could well be that Faversham will be up to the task first time against fellow three-year-olds Strategic Mount, Swan Queen and Souffleur. Faversham has been gelded and therefore holds no fancy entries, but the son of Halling has reportedly been working well at home and is taken to make a winning start to his career and make up for lost time, having failed to make it to the track as a juvenile. His dam is a full-sister to Triptych, and if he proves just a tenth as good, connections will be well pleased. Strategic Mount finished sixth behind the highly-regarded Shahin at Newbury on the second of two outings last year, and this half-brother to Strategic Choice can be expected to improve over today's trip. Swan Queen showed nothing on her sole start at Newmarket last October, but is a half-sister to no less than eight winners including Snow Goose, so will surely improve this term, while Souffleur has the same sire, In The Wings, and hails from a stable in form with its three-year-olds already if Leningrad's performance the other day is anything to go by. Swan Queen's stablemate Soufah may prove best of the older entries, but Faversham is the selection.
