The Last Marju is something of a course specialist and his latest run came in a Grade 3 at Galway. But we’re loathe to desert NICK LOST (NAP), who is proving a revelation over fences. He has to concede weight all round here but should cope with the drop in distance as he goes from the front in any case. Jaime Sommers was well behind Henry De Bromhead’s novice at Punchestown in June and it’s hard to have much faith in Inis Meain nowadays. Mount Beckham also has a bit to find on the form book.
Nick Lost (FR) Evensfav (11-6) Led and soon went on, pushed along approaching final fence, stayed on well run-in, won at Limerick 3m gd in Jul beating Childrens List (11-10) by 7l, 4 ran.
The Last Marju (IRE) 40-1 (11-1) Chased leaders, slight mistake 4th, 3rd halfway, pushed along and dropped to 5th early run-in, ridden over 1f out and no impression inside final furlong, kept on one pace, 4th of 9, 8 3/4l behind Rashaan (11-1) at Galway 2m 2f (1) sft in Aug.
Mount Beckham (IRE) 8-1 (11-12) Led, clear 2nd, awkward 4th, not fluent next and 6th, pushed along and headed before 3 out, dropped to 3rd 3 out, weakened, 3rd of 8, 18 1/2l behind Cubomania (11-11) at Perth 2m 4f hcp (4) gd in Aug.
Jaime Sommers (IRE) 15-2 (10-12) Soon led, headed from 4 out, soon dropped to 3rd, 5th approaching 2 out, soon no impression, 4th between last 2, kept on without threatening front pair into 3rd near finish, 3rd of 7, 7 1/2l behind Ask Susan (10-12) at Tramore 2m 6f gd in Aug.
Inis Meain (USA) 12-1 (10-4) Towards rear, never a factor, pushed along and detached over 4f out, no extra, kept on one pace final furlong, 9th of 12, 20l behind Jake Peter (9-0) at Tramore 2m hcp gd in Aug.
