Seddon was in brilliant form over jumps last winter, completing a four-timer with handicap victories at the Cheltenham and Punchestown Festivals. However, he's rated 14lb below Pied Piper over timber and Gordon Elliott's charge has won twice on the Flat so should have the edge in pace. Willie Mullins has won this with some smart performers and M C MULDOON could join the list. He was having his first start for almost two years when a close fourth behind Shanroe at Galway and looks the type for the Cesarewitch, in which he started favourite two years ago. Winning bumper Minella Mate was a 66/1 chance when landing a Flat maiden at the Galway Festival where he beat the long odds-on Up And Under while Almuhit had been running well before finding heavy ground against him at that fixture.
