LONGCLAW's third place behind Alpine Star and Santiago in a Galway maiden last August now looks a massive performance given the subsequent exploits of the first two. Gordon Elliott's charge then occupied the same spot in a Listed race at Kentucky Downs before moving to the USA but returned with a moderate effort when favourite at Roscommon. He must be given another chance and Pugin, who should be his greatest threat here, was behind in that Roscommon event before improving massively at Leopardstown. The remainder with experience haven't shown much and the newcomer Watchmen, a half-brother to last year's Coronation Stakes winner Watch Me, could prove more of a danger. Orchestral Rain's dam has produced winners with her first two foals to race so he's another to keep an eye on.
