Verdict

This isn't a good race for favourites with just one winning in the past 10 years but it will be a surprise if either Garlic Hill or AUGHWILLIAM LADY aren't successful here. The former looked a potentially useful stayer when scoring over 2m4f at Clonmel on fast ground last month though the eventual runner-up made a mess of the last which aided the winner's cause. Aughwilliam Lady also scored over Clonmel's 2m4f track last time and she has steadily progressed into a useful hurdler. The mare's allowance will be a big plus here and she just gets the nod. Castle Major looked promising when a good fourth to Byeforthepresent at Downpatrick but has questions to answer after a very poor subsequent effort at Punchestown.
