In the maiden, the short list consists of Lunar Landscape, Junior and Right To Play, with the vote going to Lunar Landscape. The beautifully-bred Lunar Landscape, who is by Giant's Causeway out of Melikah, who is a half-sister to, among others, the Derby winner Galileo, certainly catches the eye in this maiden and has to be seriously considered. From an in-form stable, Glamis Castle has to be considered on his debut, but watch the betting for clues. Junior improved from run one to two to show up well at Goodwood last time and rates as a contender. John Gosden's Right To Play cost the best part of one million dollars and gets a very good mention, although jockey bookings - which were not indicated at the 48-hour stage - will tell us more about the stable's fancies. Woolfall Blue has form rating in the high 70s, but it will be disappointing if one of the bluebloods cannot prove stronger. Finally, Scotch Pancake must have had her problems but, beaten only a whisker on her racecourse debut in 2005, she can go well if reproducing that following a recent pipe-opening run, and Debutante can fare better today than she did on her debut. Overall, though, Lunar Landscape gets the call.
