A poor handicap can go to Gyration ahead of Brave Jack, Desert Lover and Rubilini. This is another race in which winning form is hard to come by, but Gyration is at least going the right way judged on his latest effort at Ripon. Set alight by first-time cheekpieces, James Given's charge made a valiant attempt to make all until fading inside the final furlong, and a similar effort over this shorter trip may well suffice, with Seb Sanders doing the steering for the first time. Brave Jack has been threatening to come good of late, and indeed backed up his claims with a good run at Leicester five days ago. However, he is no better than selling grade, so we should not go overboard about his chance. Desert Lover has won twice round here before, but went off the boil completely in the spring and has been rested. Richard Hughes has been booked to ride for the first time though, so the five-year-old should not be discounted. Rubilini showed a glimmer of hope the time before last, while the only guide to the rest is the market, but we make Gyration the one to beat.
